Growing One Step at a Time
What is a Mays Transformational Leader?

To be a transformational leader means to be able to lead diverse employees in a variety of situations and motivate them to sincerely contribute to the organizational goals. Through my time at Mays, a few factors that have helped me learn how to become a transformational leader include the fact that people are motivated in different ways and it is up to bosses to become a leader and help guide individuals towards the results the company aims to see. However, when motivating these individuals, we have to be certain to stick to the core values of respect and integrity, contributing to an overall learning and growing company culture. It is important for individuals to feel it is safe to make a mistake and that leaders will help prevent recurring mistakes in the future.
Connections to the Canvas

Every class taken at Mays is connected to an applicable skill or background knowledge necessary to the business world. After taking the main core business knowledge classes, I chose Human Resources Management as my major. Throughout my management classes, I have strengthened my communication and critical thinking skills, being put in scenarios and given real-world cases where my peers and I have to communicate effective solutions that will hep contribute to the organizational strategy. My management courses have taught me how to become an influential leader, while meeting the needs and resolving the concerns of possible employees and workplace environments.
