The Process
Releasing the Undiscovered Side of Me
Who knew that self-reflections and deep analysis of insightful moments could completely alter one's perspective. In this portfolio process, the surprising aspect was that my mentality did not only change about the world, but also about myself.

As I continue to work on this portfolio, I realize that as days pass, I'm changing and growing in significant ways.
The Power of Vulnerability
VULNERABILITY: the feeling that is replaced each day by pride as I prepare myself to tell my story to the world. Each and every single soul endures moments in their life that scars them. It is one thing to ponder over these unforgettable moments or tell your close friends, but it is a different story to release each emotion's impact through our words.

A couple of the most significant insights I realized about myself include aspects relating to my passion, my personality, and the once hidden vulnerable side of me I veiled with my tough persona.

CARDIOLOGY TO BUSINESS IN HEALTHCARE
I've always been taught that experience beats knowledge and though I understood this, I never believed it truly. I felt that if one is determined to do something and puts in all their effort to achieve there goal, then there is nothing that can stop them. With this mentality, I had been convincing myself that if I ever work a day of my life, I would only work as a Cardiac Perfusionist. It was the only career I thought I would ever love, but after stepping into the shoes of a Cardiac provider for a few months, I realized the importance of experience. Even though I am passionate and still dream of potentially working alongside a cardiac surgeon one day, the reality of this field holds me back ....

THE SENSITIVE SIDE
All my life, I've put on a "tough shell" to make my family feel as if I'm unbreakable. I loved knowing that I am the reason behind someone's smile and if I, myself appear sensitive and dull, then how can I make someone else's day brighter. Maintaining this "tough-guy" personality, I kept my sensitivity hidden so well that I became immune to brick walls and heartbreaking situations. I forgot who I was when I was with family, always trying to reflect optimism and holding in my true feelings. The only words and actions I would express were the one's that would please them most and give them hope. It wasn't until the freshmen year of 2018, I realized that putting on an unshakable persona to keep my family strong was only distancing me from them....

LIVING FOR HUMANITY
There lays an inevitable sense of power and happiness in living for humanity. Whether it be a charitable act of kindness, or an effort to make a change, the satisfaction that arises from intrinsic motivation has no comparison to the reward of sticks and carrots. Rewards such as money and benefits hold little value in front of internal joy and goodwill. I have always valued taking my time out for others receiving only internal peace in return, but as learning about the business world and being a mentor, I've become certain that the magic of motivation is in living for humanity.
